"Develop a habit of looking for God everywhere, and you might be surprised where He will show up." I read this in a post from Joyce Meyer. Then this morning, I received this message from my friend Shari:
" I got your "The Lavine Boys' Christmas Caroling Adventures Book 2: With Friends" this week and I have to share a true story. I started reading your book while waiting for my oil change. I had just finished the Introduction, "It was Dark That Evening...", when the technician came out and told me the _______ over my _____ ______ ____ was out, and he recommended replacing it, since it was a ticketable offense. I just started laughing! The poor man must have thought I'd lost it. So I explained the events in the Introduction and showed him your book!"
HA! How funny is that?! I won't say what it was that needed replacing, so as not to spoil it for you if you've not read Book 2 yet. But what a coincidence that Shari was possibly saved from getting pulled over by the cops (and getting a ticket) for the same issue the boys and I were pulled over for that night while out trying to spread some Christmas cheer- while she was reading that story in the book! While, waiting for an oil change on her vehicle!
I love hearing feedback from the books! I still see The Lord working through our years of Christmas caroling, as I hear stories such as this. The Lord does have quite the sense of humor, that He will even show up while you're waiting on your oil change, saving you a from a ticket.
Throughout "The Lavine Boys' Christmas Caroling Adventures" series, there are many stories and situations where The Lord was surely showing up; if you had the eyes to see them, and many times when least expected. The many blessings we experienced throughout those 15-years of caroling are treasures to remember.
My hope is that as word spreads about this book series, and they get into the hands of more people, that they will encourage many more families to begin their own Little Christmas Caroling Gigs, so that they can begin "making homemade memories that last a lifetime" this Christmas season.

Since the boys were small, I always encouraged them to keep their eyes open to see The Lord's blessings, even in the little things. We prayed before going to garage sales, asking for the things we needed and/or things to resell to get the things we needed. My boys experienced many answered prayers during those years. It was music to my ears to hear them say with excitement in their voices as we piled back into the van at a garage sale, "The Lord answered our prayer!" Those items may have only been someone else's unwanted cast offs, but to us, they were an answer to a prayer. Keep looking for God... He will show up.
